Serving the Home Building and Remodeling Industry

How to Join BAM:

BAM is part of a network of knowledgeable organizations that works to improve your business and the industry as a whole.

You actually join BAM through your local builder's association. BAM is the umbrella organization for home builders and works on statewide issues. There are 15 local builder associations around the state. Each local association has a different process for becoming a member and each offers a variety of services such as: Parade of Homes, Home Shows, monthly membership meetings, education opportunities and camaraderie.

When you join the local association, a portion of your dues is sent to the Builders Association of Minnesota and the National Association of Home Builders. You join one of the local associations and automatically become a member with BAM and NAHB to provide you with access to resources that can answer your building and business related questions, whatever they may be.

Our Primary Efforts

BAM represents your interests at the State Capitol, lobbying to pass laws that make sense and to prevent harmful laws that hinder your business. We fight your political battles so you can build as free from government intervention as possible. When we win, you save money.

For Example

Legal Fees

When special interest groups wanted to require builders to pay legal fees in home warranty law cases, we lobbied against the bill and won. We saved you excess legal costs.

Wetlands

When special interest groups wanted to require 100-foot buffers around all wetlands, we worked against the proposal and got the buffers back to 25 feet. We saved you excess land costs.

Fire Sprinklers

When special interest groups wanted to require fire sprinklers in all single family homes, we worked to find a compromise that would be safe for our homeowners and consistent with current building code requirements. We saved you excess building costs (estimated at $2.24 per square foot). Estimate based on Department of Administration, Sonar Chapter 1306 (2003).
